Michael Beasley’s Triumphant Return Takes an Unexpected Turn – Here’s What Happened
Former Kansas State Star Faces Marijuana Possession Charges After Celebratory Weekend

MANHATTAN — Former Kansas State basketball star Michael Beasley’s triumphant return to Manhattan didn’t end so happily.
Beasley was arrested at 5:12 a.m. Sunday at Manhattan Regional Airport on marijuana possession charges, according to the Riley County Police Department’s daily arrest report. He was released on $750 bond.
Beasley sat courtside and cheered for the Wildcats during Saturday’s 81-73 win over Kansas. This was his first K-State game at Bramlage Coliseum.
Beasley was a consensus All-American in 2007–08, his only season with the Wildcats, when he averaged 26.2 points and 12.4 rebounds while helping K-State to 21 wins and an NCAA Tournament appearance. He was selected second overall by the Miami Heat in the 2008 NBA draft and played 11 seasons in the league with seven different teams.
At K-State, Beasley’s 866 points in 2007–08 ranked third and his 408 rebounds ranked second most by a freshman in NCAA history. That season, the Wildcats made it to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in twelve years.
Over the weekend, Beasley was in Manhattan for a fan signing event, where the Bramlage crowd welcomed him with a loud ovation. He shared the moment with former Wildcat star Barry Brown (2015–2019), making it a special and memorable occasion.
According to K-State coach Jerome Tang, Beasley spoke to players before and after the game, but did not address the entire team.
After finishing his NBA career with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2019, he played one season in China (2019) and one season in Puerto Rico (2021) before returning to China in 2022.
Beasley was previously arrested for marijuana possession in Scottsdale, Arizona in 2013, when he was a member of the Phoenix Suns. And in 2019 he was suspended for five games for violating the NBA’s anti-drug policy. create title and sub title for this blog post
